Fishplate
Fishplates are used to secure the continuity of rail track by fixing each two neighbouring rail to each other by screwing in case of conventionally built rail track, while they are used for fixing the neighbouring two pieces of rails temporarily until they are welded to create continuous rail track. Three or four holes are bored at the end sections of two adjoining pieces of rails and a pair of fishplates with correspondingly pre-bored holes is then fixed on both sides to the adjoining pieces of rails by square-headed fishbolts. The nuts of the fishbolts are secured by spring washers against loosening. In case of a non-continuously welded conventional rail track the fishbolts secure the stability and holding power of the track through the gaps between each two pieces of neighbouring rails along the rail track.
